About Madison Park

The Madison Park neighborhood is named after the city park at the foot of East Madison Street on the shore of Lake Washington. It’s to the east of the central Seattle area. With a cable car from the downtown area to the lake, and a swimming beach, Madison Park has been a popular summer getaway.

The 8.3 acre Madison Park hosts the swimming beach, a community playhouse for children, a public dock, playground, playfield and tennis courts. Judge John J. McGilvra created this park in the late 19th century, and it became one of that era’s most popular recreation spots in the Seattle area.

The Madison Park neighborhood has a small town feel, with its more than 60 businesses lining the treed streets, but the business owners likely to know their customers’ names. Local business owners promote the village feeling and give back by sponsoring events such as Madison Park Days in July, Halloween Activities, and numerous special gatherings during December.

Homes along the shore of Lake Washington are frequently over $1 million, but cover all price ranges from about $200,000 up. There are also condominiums and townhomes in the Madison Park area. For the small town feel with big city convenience, this area is hard to beat.

The Madison Park to downtown commute is approximately 3.6 miles take about 20 minutes.
